NEET Chemistry classes in Tamil and English

Understand every concept in Tamil, then answer it the way NEET asks it, in English. This page explains how NEET Chemistry works, what to study, and how Elementize teaches it.

NEET Chemistry at a glance

Chemistry is one of three subjects in NEET UG. It carries the same marks as Physics, and for many students it is the most scoring of the three because the questions stay close to the NCERT textbooks.

The pattern is set by NTA each year. Always confirm the details in the current NEET information bulletin before the exam.

Why learn in Tamil and English

Most students from Tamil-medium or State Board schools do not struggle with chemistry itself. They struggle with the switch to English terms, and with questions that test a concept in an unfamiliar way. Learning only in English means memorising words you have not understood. Learning only in Tamil means meeting new words for the first time in the exam hall.

We use both on purpose:

  • The idea in Tamil. Why a carbocation rearranges, why entropy increases on mixing, why d-block ions are coloured. The explanation comes first, in the language you think in.
  • The exam language in English. Every key term, reagent and statement is written and practised in English, exactly as NEET prints it.
  • Practice in the NEET format. Assertion–reason, "which statements are correct", match List-I with List-II, and graph-based questions, so the question type never surprises you.
Writing NEET in Tamil? You can choose Tamil as the paper language when you apply, if your centre is in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry or the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Our English term practice still helps, because the bilingual paper prints both versions and many students check the English when a Tamil sentence feels unclear.

What to study: the NCERT map

NEET Chemistry is drawn from the NCERT Class 11 and Class 12 books. Roughly half the paper comes from Class 11 topics, so a student who starts in Class 12 has to cover both years together. Group the chapters into three branches and you will see where your strengths and gaps are:

Physical Chemistry

Numericals and graphs

Mole concept, atomic structure, thermodynamics, chemical and ionic equilibrium, redox, solutions, electrochemistry and chemical kinetics. Marks come from clean formula use and units.

Inorganic Chemistry

NCERT lines, read closely

Periodic properties, chemical bonding, p-block, d- and f-block elements and coordination compounds. Many questions lift statements directly from NCERT text and tables.

Organic Chemistry

Mechanism, not memory

GOC and isomerism, hydrocarbons, haloalkanes, alcohols, phenols and ethers, carbonyl compounds, amines and biomolecules. Learn why reactions happen and named reactions stop being a list.

Practical Chemistry

Small topic, sure marks

Salt analysis, titrations and functional-group tests appear as direct questions. A one-page summary covers most of them.

A 3-phase study plan

  1. Build (chapter by chapter). Learn the concept, read the NCERT chapter line by line, and solve the NCERT in-text and exercise questions. Do not move on until you can explain the chapter in your own words.
  2. Practise (mixed and timed). Solve previous-year NEET questions chapter-wise, then mixed sets of 45 questions. Keep an error log: for every wrong answer, write whether it was a concept gap, a calculation slip or a misread question.
  3. Simulate (full papers). In the last two to three months, take full NEET papers in the real time limit. Aim to finish Chemistry's 45 questions in about 40–45 minutes, leaving time for Biology and Physics.

Mistakes that cost marks

  • Skipping NCERT inorganic text. Exceptions, colours, oxidation states and orders given in NCERT tables are asked directly. Reading only coaching notes misses them.
  • Sign errors in thermodynamics. Work done by the system, ΔH versus ΔU, and the sign of ΔS for a process. Fix one convention and use it every time.
  • Unit slips in mole concept and solutions. Millilitres to litres, grams to kilograms in molality, and molarity versus molality.
  • Memorising reagents without mechanism. If you know why a reaction goes through a carbocation, rearrangements and product questions become easy.
  • Guessing under negative marking. A wrong answer costs one mark. Guess only when you can rule out at least two options.

How Elementize teaches NEET Chemistry

Classes are taught by Poovarasan Ramasamy, M.Sc., B.Ed. (Chemistry), a chemistry lecturer and author. Each chapter follows the same cycle: a concept class, print-ready notes, practice in every NEET question format, and a part test with full solutions that explain why each wrong option is wrong. Classes and recordings are on the Elementize app, so you can revise any lesson again.

See our free Chemistry notes and chapter-wise MCQs, and if you are in Class 11, start with Class 11 Chemistry online classes.

Questions parents ask

Are the classes only in Tamil?

No. Concepts are explained in Tamil and English together, and all exam terms, notes and tests are in English, the way NEET prints them.

Do you follow NCERT?

Yes. NEET Chemistry is based on the NCERT Class 11 and 12 books, so every chapter starts from the NCERT text and ends with NEET-pattern questions.

Are the classes online?

Yes. Live and recorded classes, notes and tests are on the Elementize app on Classplus, so students anywhere in Tamil Nadu can join.
